The Harlem Renaissance was a cultural movement during the 1920s to the 1930s. This period of time was marked with an explosion of contributions from African Americans in art, music and liturature. This website marks the research of some of the time periods greats: Duke Ellington, Bessie Smith, Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen, Jacob Lawrence and William Johnson. The venn diagram was created as a result of a classroom discussion regarding the elements of this time period and the influences and impact it makes on our art, music and literature today.
